U.S. Department of Agriculture: Rural
Economic and Community Development
Rural Economic and Community Development Division's Business
and Industry Loan Program supplies loans to improve develop
or finance business, industry and employment. Program
assists private companies in rural areas with a population
of fewer than 50,000. Loans can be guaranteed for
construction, land, buildings, and equipment as well as
working capital, interest, marketing and feasibility studies.

Rural Partnership
In 1999, Minnesota Rural Partners created Minnesota Rural
Partners, Inc, a separate 501(c) (3) designated non-profit
organization. MRP, Inc. is essentially a mechanism for
Minnesota Rural Partners to take on projects that benefit
rural communities and pass through project dollars into
rural communities. MRP, Inc. makes possible the implementation
of projects and planning through private and other contributions
that couldn't be possible through a federally funded organization.

Xcel Energy Renewable Development
Fund
Xcel Energy created the Renewable Development Fund (RDF)
in May 1999 as an outcome of 1994 MN legislation concerning
spent fuel storage at the Prairie Island nuclear power
plant. Funds are available for the development
of renewable energy sources.
